Pope Francis – My Opinion vs Maureen Dowd’s

I was reading an article on Flipboard this morning about Pope Francis and it brought me back to when I was 12 and 13.  You see during the first part of my life I was Southern Baptist, even baptized at the age of 11, while I lived with my father and his third wife.

When I moved back with my mother at the age of 12, I was inducted into the Lutheran church, finding myself more comfortable in a church then I had ever felt.  Yet, due to suffering from very server PSTD from the abuse I had suffered during my younger years at the hands of my father’s third wife. I was also introduced to our Native American ancestry and Native American spirituality. My mother took me to see my aunt who was a medicine woman, in hopes to help me with my PSTD.

Roughly a year later my mother moved us to the Catholic Church, you see she studied religions too, and was always looking for the right one for her. I realized their was not such a HUGE difference in the Lutheran church and the Catholic Church but their was a difference in enough that once again I wasn’t feeling all that comfortable in church, yet my mother was very comfortable and felt like she had come home.  I found myself at the age of 12 and 13 wanting to study all religions and see the similarities and differences between them,

I tell you this back story because today I am a non-denominational ordain mister who still studies religions and spirituality.  I also follow what is going on with the Catholic church because of my mother and because of my interest in religions and spirituality.  I do not because I consider myself Catholic any longer, but my mother considered herself Catholic up to the moment she breathed her last breath.

With all of this information I you will better understand the rest of this blog better and why I have such a deep interest in Pope Francis and what is going on with him.

I was reading an article by Maureen Dowd from Flipboard this morning and she stated within the article “the biographer said that, for him, Francis’ “slow progress on sex abuse” and his lack of forward motion on women are “his huge areas of weakness.”  She goes on to state how she feels Pope Francis’ would be the perfect 19th-Century Pope because of his popularity with the crowds, his outlook on capitalism, but also his “close mindedness” on women in the church.  –  Yet, with in her own article she mentions he is not fully mindedness about this subject, that he has even approached women friends of his and spoke about how to fix this issue, but is unsure of how to go about it.  That he speaks on the fact that women are the back bone of many societies, and nuns are the back bone of the church, etc.    But, she seems to focus on the one statement where he stated “The church has spoken, the door is closed”

Now, let me point one thing out to the readers: The Pope is much like the president, in that he can not FORCE the church to abide by his ruling, he isn’t a dictator.  He may feel one way, but the inner workings of the church may feel another and all he can do is speak on what he feels is best for the church and speak out for the church and the nation.  Which is in my opinion what he is doing and what is making him so popular.  – your opinions?

About Me: – From The Wondering Mind Of THE Artist and The Beak Of A Hawk

I am Trinton “TrinityHawk” Garrett, I am a guy just like every other guy. I live my life loving my family, loving the Earth we live upon, living the spirituality that is apart of who I am.

I study life, religions, and philosophies and I love reading as much as I love writing and creating art.  To me life is art, art is beauty, and all things are beautiful.

On a more basic aspect of who I am;  I run two businesses a freelance art business where I create Multimedia art and Indie book covers. I also am a writer of short stories, poetry, and publisher of an alternative magazine.

I combine these skills and create my own e-books in which I will be selling on my own page soon.  I also sell my art work on my page, but for now I sell it on my two art pages:

Society6 and Redbubble

I suffer of chronic pain aliment Fibromyalgia and Lower back issue, as well as a few  life time trails that I have had to face which have made me stronger. However, I won’t say it made my life a better life, because that is a Bullshit phrase.  Buddha, Christ, who ever you want to quote, might say with life comes pain and suffering but not one said it will make your life better.  This is because they each one have stated it will make you wiser and more enlightened, perhaps with this wisdom life will be better, but this is up to each person individually.  I try to use all these experiences to educate people in order to prevent the younger generation from having to suffer with and through as much, and will be able to choose their own path a bit easier.

Book Review: Monsterland by Michael Phillip Cash – HE DID IT AGAIN!!

Monsterland It is the perfect book to read at Halloween time (any time actually).

Even though I am not a fan of Horror books or movies, I was enthralled with this book! If I hadn’t had other things to do this past week, I would of had this book read in two days.

Cash wrote this book for either adults or young adults to enjoy. It reminded me a lot of the older goose bump books, but did have a bit of gory details about the monsters and how they were killed, such as; “…Wyatt reacted whacking the ax against the head, watching in sickening astonishment as it cleaved it in two , brains spilling out like water from a broken faucet….” or killed; such as, “He leaped up, sinking his fierce teeth into the soft skin of the keeper’s neck, cutting off his vocal cords, so he died quickly and silently. The blood spurted like a fountain….” . But, really nothing compared to the horror movies young adults watch these days or some of the post apocalypse books and movies are like. Plus, It just made the book all that much more enthralling and made the writing so much more edgy of your seat worthy.

Cash counter acts these moments with a wonderful sense of humor and levity; such as; “He spun in a circle, throwing the disconnected head at another group of shuffling zombies that feel like bowling pins. “Strike,” Wyatt said with satisfaction.”
