Wondering Thoughts of a Native Knight

As I have said many times my mother is/was my number one mentor in life. She pushed me through school. Not only High School but College as well.  When I graduated from High School I gave her my graduation hat and told her it was as much hers as mine.  She was a single parent and even when she was working two jobs to feed us and pay the bills she pushed me to keep going even when I felt low and helped me to study every day.

She taught me to reach for the golden ring if I missed the first or second time around than just try harder and reach further out the next time.

Yeah, sometimes you might fall off that carousel horse while reaching for the golden ring, but then you get right back up, dust yourself off and go again until you capture the ring!

Because we all have to work for what we want. If we have kids, than we as adults/parents signed a contract with those children and with the higher power to help and guide them to capture the golden ring without falling off and getting hurt, as best as we are able, until they are out of college then help via support and love for the rest of our lives.

No one can give a person their dreams. Perhaps someone can help reach out and grab that golden ring if we are willing to ask for their help.  But they can not do the work alone. No one can just hand that golden ring over to another person, not your parents, not a spouse, not even our higher power.

Sure there are those who inherit riches, like Donald Trump.  However, even those who have inherited  lots of money has to work to keep that money. If they want to remain rich, then they have to do the work to remain so, to earn more money to replace the money they spend or to invest smartly so that they do not end up bankrupt.

However, if we allow it anyone can take our self-worth, and our dreams from us through their actions and their words.

Don’t let them!

I wish everyone a Happy Modern Mother’s Day. What do I mean by this? Will there are so many other types of mother’s than female gendered mother’s who are married and give birth to their children.  There are those who are single parents, gay fathers who are in the mothers role, divorced father’s who play both roles, as well as, the traditional mothers. All these mothers made up what a modern day Mother’s Day looks like in the 21st-century world.

I do have friends who are upset with this way of thinking, they feel mothers are getting the short end of the stick. Because they say Mothers have their days and Fathers have their day that they shouldn’t be blending the days.  However, just like Mother’s Day, there are also female gendered “fathers” on Father’s Day that should be wished a Happy Father’s Day, as well.  So, it isn’t just a one-way street.

Anyone who does the mother’s duties should be granted the rights to be wished a Happy Mother’s Day.   I was a single father for my daughter from the time she was 6 yrs old and she has been wishing me a Happy Mother’s day since she was 7.

So to all the mothers, motherly fathers, adopted mothers, and furbaby mothers I hope you have a very happy Mother’s Day.

I generally don’t post about politics on my blog, at least not that often.  Sometimes something drives me to post my opinion or a thought that strikes me needing to be said. Will this post is the latter, as I read article after article and watch the news about Donald Dump, the real estate mogul and reality television star, getting closer and closer to winning the Republican primary it strikes me as odd that someone who has no governmental experience what so ever. As so many have said; Being a businessman and reality tv show star does not make a president to a country. So how can he win so many votes?

This truly does confound me.  I am at a loss every time Donald Dump wins another primary race in another state I just set confounded and wonder is this country really lost its’ way so much that they can’t see that he is pulling the wool over their eyes, that the media has brainwashed them with reality television shows so much that our world has become its’ own version of the hunger games.  The candidate who can get the most attention can do the craziest antics get the most votes.  Not the candidate who has the best experience, the best policies or has the American people  in mind by running.   If you have the best propaganda then you have the media in your pocket and with propaganda and media you win the hunger games, the prize? Presidency!

Book review of “Tortured Souls: Tortured Souls: The House on Wellfleet Bluffs”

I was given “Tortured Souls: The House on Wellfleet Bluffs” for an honest review. I honestly was drawn into this story until I felt I was there with Lynne, Jason and the rest of the Wellfleet neighborhood.

I felt their pain, joy, and was on edge waiting for what was going to happen next.

I was so drawn in that at he end I was caught off guard and found myself weeping along side the characters.

If you like thriller books that are full suspension that will keep you drawn in and on the edge of your seat, then ” Tortured Souls: The House on Wellfleet Bluffs” is the book for you!

Grumpy Old WizardsGrumpy Old Wizards by John O’Riley
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Just finished reading John O’Riley’s book Grumpy Old Wizards – book 1, (this book was sent to me free of charge for an honest review).

An honest review isn’t hard to give since O’Riley’s book had me on the edge of my chair the whole time! It is a double-spaced 372-page book but I was so enthralled with it that I read the book in three days! It would have been less if things in life were necessary to attend to.

I ran across a couple of spelling errors, typos, and one area where I think a couple sentences got flipped around, but overall “Grumpy Old Wizards” flowed smoothly.

It is a great fantasy book for young adults to us elder readers who love magic, and surprises at every turn in a book.

A Suspenseful Home Run!

The History MajorThe History Major by Michael Phillip Cash

My rating: 5 of 5 stars

I was sent “The History Major” free of charge for an honest review. I am so glad I received this book!! Mr. Cash hit a HOME RUN with “The History Major” I opened the book to start reading it and read most of it in one day! If I hadn’t had a doctors appointment and chores around the house, I would have had the whole book read in one day, but instead, I finished it in less than 2 days, (by the next morning).

Mr. Cash’s characters drew me in and kept my interest, as did the plot with many suspenseful twist and turns. I love history and he really kept me reading with his knowledge of different aspects of history that he interwove into the story and how they could help the story line. Just as I thought I had guessed what was happening, there was another twist and I was lift wondering what, and being drawn back in deeper into the story and the characters.

By the time, I finished the book I left retracing my own memories and questioning my beliefs of reality verse dreams, “What if…”
