Starbucks How Dare YOU!!!!

I am sure many of you have seen this Starbucks debate on every social media forum and news channel the past few days. If you haven’t then I would say you either, haven’t been on any social media, haven’t watched the news, or have your head stuck somewhere dark.

Apparently, Christen’s are up in air about their choice of coffee mugs this holiday season.  Starbucks has chosen to go with a red mug, instead of their “red” mug with snow flakes, fir tree limbs, reindeer etc.  So, some people are saying Starbucks is taking Christ out of Christmas, that they have become “Jesus haters”.

Can someone explain how going to a “red” cup is taking Christ out of Christmas?  I do not see how this makes sense to myself.  What does Christ have to do with snow flakes, and reindeer or red cups, which by the way isn’t a “real” red. Starbucks has stated the cup ” is a two-toned ombré design, with a bright poppy color on top that shades into a darker cranberry below” Read more at

It should also be noted that Starbucks could not have removed any overtly Christian symbols from their cups, because they never used them to begin with. The holiday symbols Starbucks used between November and December every year on their cups typically feature general winter holiday symbols such as snowmen, carolers, and ornaments, which (although they may be associated with Christmas) are either secular in origin or not exclusively Christian.

If Starbucks was truly getting rid of Christ and declaring War on Christ, wouldn’t they get rid of EVERYTHING, every product they have which is Christmas oriented, such as: Starbucks® Advent Calendar 2015Red Holiday Cup OrnamentStarbucks® Dark Chocolate Peppermint GrahamsFloating Figurines Holiday Tumbler, 12 fl ozHoliday Trees Cold Cup, 16 fl oz and many others.  Plus, all the special holiday flavored drinks: Chestnut Praline Latte, Peppermint Mocha and Caramel Brulée Latte. If a two-tone Ombre` cup is representation of Christ then so are these other products.

With all this information known and all the arguing going – on my issue with all this is?

We have so many other things in this world to worry about, and the thing these people are worried about, and are fighting over in the world, during the season that is suppose to be about good will and brotherly love: when the bible says; “love thy neighbor as thy self” –    Yet people are fighting over A TWO-TONED OMBRE` CUP CUP!

In our country we have Thousands of veterans will spend Christmas day overseas while thousands more will spend it in the streets starving  or dying from exposure to the weather because we don’t have a solution to this issue, which is also partly due to lack of solution to the lack of Mental Health issues and care in the US.

Millions of children will eat their dinners at a facility due to being abandoned by their birth parents. Or 1 out of every 3 children will be spending their Christmas being abused by one or both of their parents, Yet people are fighting over A TWO-TONED OMBRE` CUP CUP!

The little gay boy or girl down the street or in your class is being bullied on a daily basis, or perhaps it is just the really quite geeky kid who has a stutter, to the point of suicide.  Yet people are fighting over A TWO-TONED OMBRE CUP CUP!

Thousands of inmates will spend the holidays in jail for non-violent, weed related crimes. Billions of animals will be slaughtered in dog fights, in animal shelters just to full to shelter them all because people can’t be bothered to have them spayed or neutered, buy them for gifts – then decided they are to much problem, etc.  Yet people are fighting over A TWO-TONED OMBRE CUP CUP!

This holiday is suppose to be about good will to all and love for man kind, yet here people are all over America (some who are ministers (Joshua Feuerstein) complaining about a company and their cup which really had NOTHING to do with Christ.

I think a person on twitter stated it best when they wrote on twitter: “If you need a coffee chain to be your ambassador of Christ you need to re-examine your relationship w/God,” one Twitter critic.

Peace and Blessings:

karma-cleanse

Thought for the day:

Karma: Many believe Karma is – you do bad, bad things happen to you – You do good, good things happen to you during this life and in those things that you do, and that are done to you.

According to Buddhism and Hinduism – Karma is the sum of a person’s actions in this and previous states of existence, viewed as deciding their fate in future existences, or in Christianity it is the sum of a person’s actions in this life viewed as deciding their fate upon facing the lord.

So – Your Karma – is your OVER ALL life actions, deeds, spiritual intent been good or bad? Have you believed enough, have you followed and practiced your faith – not only in word but actions? Been kind to those who needed it? Not turned your head and ignored them? Have you done your best not to judge?

As I live and pray this prayer that I was taught once –

Oh, Great Spirit
Whose voice I hear in the winds,
And whose breath gives life to all the world,
hear me, I am small and weak,
I need your strength and wisdom.
Let me walk in beauty and make my eyes ever behold
the red and purple sunset.
Make my hands respect the things you have
made and my ears sharp to hear your voice.
Make me wise so that I may understand the things
you have taught my people.
Let me learn the lessons you have
hidden in every leaf and rock.
I seek strength, not to be greater than my brother,
but to fight my greatest enemy – myself.
Make me always ready to come to you
with clean hands and straight eyes.
So when life fades, as the fading sunset,
my Spirit may come to you without shame.

So – what does your Karma look like today, this week, this year?  Do not only have faith but believe it, practice it and give thanks for it!

Rape Does Not Have A Gender:

qj4e9b0425I ran across a status on Facebook a few days ago where a few people were discussing an article that is about three women who held a guy at gun point and raped him. Rape is not always penetration for men or women, but any sexual act that is unwanted. In the Merriam-Webster dictionary the definition of rape is as follows:

**unlawful sexual intercourse or any other sexual penetration of the vagina, anus, or mouth of another person, with or without force, by a sex organ, other body part, or foreign object, without the consent of the victim.**
However, the Federal laws on rape are much more detailed you can read them here.  According to Federal laws rape is any act that is intent on sexual contact with out the consent of another.

Reading the discussion others were having with the article above, it struck me how many men were laughing it off and making jokes about the rape.  “I could never get so lucky” ,  “I hope they were hot babes”,  and the worse in my opinion was “what kind of weak ass man gets himself raped by women?”  It truly was no surprise, to me, that the women were taking a stand against rape, even when there was a man was involved.  Men are taught from a young age that men are not able to be raped because they are the masculine gender, which means they have to be the stronger gender.    So, if a man says they have been raped by a woman then they have to be joking, and of course they wouldn’t ever admit to being raped by a man, without losing their own masculinity.

by-the-numbersThe truth is; One in five women and one in 71 men will be raped at some point in their lives. Approximately one in 45 men has been made to penetrate an intimate partner during his lifetime.

None of these statistics count for those men who do not report their rape. Such as the estimated 13,900 military men who experience unwanted sexual contact a year. However, in 2014 National Crime Victimization Survey asked 40,000 households about rape and sexual violence and discovered some rather shocking numbers, the percentage of men who have been raped had gone up.   38 percent of incidents were against men, where in years past men had accounted for somewhere between 5 and 14 percent of rape and sexual violence victims. These survives were only taking into effect the basic definition of rape “those forced to penetrate or be penetrated at force”, in the 2010 National Intimate Partner and Sexual Violence Survey every type of sexual non-consensual rape was taken into account, not just penetration, then the rates of non-consensual sexual contact basically equalized, with 1.270 million being women and 1.267 million being men claiming to be victims of sexual violence.

Researcher Lara Stemple from Health and Human Rigtumblr_mtn9tj0wqo1s8iwnqo6_500hts Project at UCLA has also found in her research that The experience of men and women is “a lot closer than any of us would expect,”.  For some kinds of victimization, men and women have roughly equal experiences. Stemple concluded that we need to “completely rethink our assumptions about sexual victimization,” and especially our fallback model that men are always the perpetrators and women the victims.  We need to stop thinking that men can’t get raped, that no matter how many times they say no, they secretly like it. That only little boys can be raped and only because they get threatened and coerced.

Many say will if a man has an erection he must want sex, so if he is saying no, he is still wanting it especially because we assume men are sexually insatiable. But what if it was said the same were women are concerned “You got wet, you must of wanted it, even though you said no”. The mere presence of physiological symptoms associated with arousal does not in fact indicate actual arousal, much less willing participation! No still means NO..it doesn’t mean Yes, It doesn’t mean Maybe, it means NO for ALL Genders!

So how about, as a blog I recently read said:  Become accepting – Become supportive – Become Connected!
