Homeless Jesus:

On top of the news of the Supreme Court passing the law to give all GLBT individuals the right to marry, my wife and I were texting this morning about a statue that is downtown it is at one of our local bus stops, near a church, the statue titled; “Homeless Jesus”.  It is a figure of a person curled up on a bench with a blanket over him and all you can see is his hands holding the blanket and his feet sticking out.  His hands and feet both have holes in them.

It had me wondering: has the Bible story of Jesus been told in true context and not  translated it to mean to themselves.

Jesus was a homeless man partly by choice do to traveling and speaking the world of god, but also because that when he did seek shelter, many times he would be turned away by those who did not believe and saw him as nothing more than a beggar.

Those who valued their THINGS and their money over humanity instead of helping another human being in need, choose to turn a blind eye on who this man at their door was, and saw just a dirty beggar instead of God’s Son who was here walking among his people preaching his father’s word, studying to reach enlightenment himself. For he said many times; “I will live and walk among my people”  So, who were his people? The rich that valued their THINGS and money, that turned away those in need? Or those who were poor and welcomed others with open arms, was welling to share what they had even if it wasn’t much?

I am not saying all the poor and none of the reach were his people.  No – there were some rich who gave to the poor and welcomed Jesus into their homes, let him rest, eat, and bath.  These people received the same blessings that those who he lived and walked among.   But, remember Jesus said in Matthew 19:24; “Again I tell you, it is easier for a camel to go through the eye of a needle than for someone who is rich to enter the kingdom of God.”

I do not consider myself Christian but I think no matter who you are, to be “his people”, it does not matter where you are in life, what does matter is; are you willing to accept and love all man kind, no matter who they are, how much money they have, what race they are, what religion they are, or who they love.

Since I study religions and consider myself spiritual and more Buddhist then any other religion, consider this: As Buddha choose to travel an forsake all worldly goods in search of enlightenment, to preach life’s lessons.  So did Jesus, choose to travel and forsake all worldly goods in search of enlightenment, and to preach his father’s word/ life’s lessons.  Because both choose to travel and forsake all worldly goods, it made both homeless.  Both, were holy men but were forsaken by some, yet both denied that they were God, and said they were just prophets seeking enlightenment and preaching  life lessons. However; Jesus said he was preaching the word of his father, the one true God: While the study of Buddhism does not believe in a supreme creator.

The realization that he, like anyone else, could be subject to different forms of human suffering drove Siddhartha into a personal crisis. By the time he was 29, he abandoned his home and began to live as a homeless ascetic and five followers joined Buddha on his journey, much as Jesus had his prophets who followed him. Buddha means; as a person who has awakened from the deep sleep of ignorance. The Buddha, preached about embracing sympathy and a deep concern for the poor and the oppressed. He preached in favour of equality of all men and opposed inequalities and abuses of the caste system.

Buddhism has eightfold path which we follow while Christians have 10 comments they follow.  The eightfold path leads to extinction of suffering and impersonality of all beings, it leads to enlightenment within one’s spirit.  These are the lessons that Buddha taught, compared to the lessons’ Jesus taught on his travels.

I am not saying one is better then the other, I am not, as I stated above I study religions, myself I think they are both equally important and true.  For if both religious leaders teach peace, compassion, acceptance and shows that it is the road to enlightenment is to show these traits in ourselves and in humanity, how can these lessons be wrong, how can these religions be wrong?

Just where my mind wandered this morning – Whirling mind wondering thoughts …..

Where is your mind wondering? What is your whirling thoughts?

Back With A Vengeance!

Back with a Vengeance!

TrinityHawk

For those who are still around waiting for my post to begin again, I appreciate your loyalty.  I won’t go into why I haven’t been posting that is irreverent. But, what I will let you know is that Whirling Mind & Wondering Thoughts will be changing a bit from this point on.  It will still be Whirling Mind & Wondering Thoughts, but it will be more about issues in the world today and my thoughts on these issues.

To start this new page in Whirling Mind and Wondering Thoughts lets talk about those who take Vengeance into their own hands. So, many people find a need to post about “wrong doings” on Social Media’s these days and blast other people’s faces, personal information, etc all over for the satisfaction of the fact they can’t or don’t want to confront someone themselves or they can’t seem to leave issues in the hand of the law.  This is for lots of reasons. The majority of society thrives on drama and/or they don’t trust the law any longer.  Now don’t get me wrong their is another issue here, and I have found myself caught up in this social media “bullying”.  When one of our friends post something and we jump on the peer band wagon. I mean if our peer says this happen, then it MUST BE SO! Right?

Is this really what the world is coming to? Assuming and making up what we THINK happen, then splashing it around for the world to see, so a whole families life will be ruined even if we are right?

In this day and age –

We are guilty until proven innocent!

Because we are guilty until proven innocent the mass public has taken on the mob mentality, Boston riots for example, Read These Three Articles About the Reasons for the Baltimore Riots – Nation – Boston.com. True not everyone was violent and had the mob mentality, but it was a large crowd that did and through out the few days that it continued I read post after post of encouragement on social media.

This mob mentality and social media bullying and shaming doesn’t just go against adults or government officials either, which is the real horrific aspect of it all.  I actually saw post on Facebook where a young boy of 16 was being accused of mistreating an elderly man in a parking lot and the thread under the photo was horrible! Including finding and sharing his home address and phone number – threats to go beat some respect into him by grown adults!! Really ADULTS sharing a minor’s personal information and threatening him bodily harm and even his life?

Some may think will if they deserve it… How many people get these things posted who DIDN’T deserve it? Has anyone ever stopped to think about this?  Only this morning their was an article released and YES posted on social medias (Facebook is where I saw it posted).  Where an Melbourne Woman who mistakenly shamed a man on social media because she believed he was taking photos of her children at a local Target, when he was just taking a selfie with a large cardboard Darth Vader to send to HIS OWN children, has offered a grovelling apology after he has received death threats.

The mother took a photo of the man at the Westfield Knox shopping center in Melbourne’s east and shared it to Facebook last Wednesday with a status branding him a ‘creep’ but that wasn’t all she stated!  In her full Facebook status along with his photograph that she took with her cell phone she stated:  “She claimed the man approached her children while they were sitting watching Frozen on a screen in the children’s clothing section at Target. ‘He said ‘hey kids’ they looked up and he took a photo, then he said I’m sending this to a 16 yr old,’ she wrote on Facebook. The woman said she took a photo of the man then removed her children from the area and informed security. ‘Centre management were straight onto and so are the police, hopefully he is caught,’ she wrote. ‘Police said if he is a registered sex offender he will be charged, this happened at Knox, be safe with your kids.” via Melbourne mum who shamed Star Wars selfie man on Facebook apologises | Daily Mail Online.

When in actuality he was taking his FIRST ever selfie and was feeling very self conscious about it, had looked over at a set of children, who were sitting BY themselves with no parent present, he himself made an assumption, and assumed they were waiting to take their pictures with the cut out. So, stated; “I will only be a minute” to them.  Turned took a selfie and walked away.  As he was trying to figure out how to send the selfie to his children the woman took his photo and posted it.

Now, I want each and everyone one of you – I know I did – think about all the photos you have looked at accusing someone of something horrible, thought OMG how could they and re-posted the status.  Lets be more careful about what we are spreading around, this is just like spreading rumors!  Unless it is a credible news media then why are we passing on hear say information?

What is your opinion do you think we have become more  Guilty until proven Innocent country?
