Monsterland It is the perfect book to read at Halloween time (any time actually).
Even though I am not a fan of Horror books or movies, I was enthralled with this book! If I hadn’t had other things to do this past week, I would of had this book read in two days.
Cash wrote this book for either adults or young adults to enjoy. It reminded me a lot of the older goose bump books, but did have a bit of gory details about the monsters and how they were killed, such as; “…Wyatt reacted whacking the ax against the head, watching in sickening astonishment as it cleaved it in two , brains spilling out like water from a broken faucet….” or killed; such as, “He leaped up, sinking his fierce teeth into the soft skin of the keeper’s neck, cutting off his vocal cords, so he died quickly and silently. The blood spurted like a fountain….” . But, really nothing compared to the horror movies young adults watch these days or some of the post apocalypse books and movies are like. Plus, It just made the book all that much more enthralling and made the writing so much more edgy of your seat worthy.
Cash counter acts these moments with a wonderful sense of humor and levity; such as; “He spun in a circle, throwing the disconnected head at another group of shuffling zombies that feel like bowling pins. “Strike,” Wyatt said with satisfaction.”
